Indian Student Kartik Vasudev Killed in Canada

India has expressed concern over the death of an Indian in Canada after a student was shot dead in Toronto on April 7.  Karthik Vasudev is a 21-year-old Indian student, received multiple bullets after being shot at a metro station.

Torontoto Police have released a confirmed statement that Kartik Vasudev received medical attention from an off-duty paramedic and was then taken to hospital where he died.  

Karthik Vasudev was pursuing Global Management from Seneca University and was in his first year soon after joining the college.  He got a job at a restaurant and was on his way to work when he was shot and killed on Thursday, the Toronto Police Service’s homicide squad has opened an investigation, police have asked any eyewitnesses.  

They have also asked a driver or businessman who was in the area at the time to come forward.  Those who have camera footage to share it with authorities as the perpetrators of the shooting are yet to be identified and the victims’ families said they were unaware of the motive for the crime, but appealed to the Indian government to support and ensure  help to do  So that his body can be brought back to India as soon as possible.  

External Affairs Minister of India SJ Shankar elaborated in a tweet.  Deepest condolences to the family. Saying that it was saddened by this tragic incident, meanwhile the Indian Consulate in Toronto issued a statement expressing grief and sorrow over the unfortunate murder of Indian student Karthik Vasudev saying that they are in touch with the family.  and assured to all.  Possible assistance in ensuring the speedy repatriation of their mortal remains.
